Ride to Payson/Show Low/White Mountains

 August 27-29

2021

Well you won’t see many pictures from our ride to Show Low and the White Mountains. We were having too much fun swishing around the mountains. The four of us, Jim & Marla Merryman, Ed and myself left Kingman on Friday with our first stop in Williams and had brunch at Anna’s Canyon Cafe. Very popular spot, with good food. The weather was perfect. No jackets required.

Afterwards we headed down I40 and jumped on 98A towards Sedona. There’s no doubting Sedona’s beauty. We took the 260 through some beautiful areas and quaint little towns, Camp Verde, Strawberry and Pine. The road was long but had many gentle curves and gorgeous scenery. There were a couple of sticky tar snakes that grabbed you, but mostly

perfect.

We stayed in Payson for two nights and enjoyed some down time by the pool. Didn’t know it at the time, but we came back with a lot of mosquito bites (like 15!). We had intended on riding Devil’s Highway, but ran out of time. All the roads had such nice curves and great scenery, we found ourselves down in Globe. That town didn’t seem to have any great draw but the ride back to Payson took us by Roosevelt Lake and Tonto Basin.

Marla Merryman and I had the best weekend we could have ever asked for, with Sebrena Edmison and Ed Edmison. Riding thru Williams, Sedona and Globe Arizona, spent 2 awesome nights in Payson Az. we were hoping to ride to the Devils Hy, but I may have taken a wrong turn, which in fact, turned out to be an incredible ride thru the mountains and the views were incredible. A Special thanks to both Ed and Sebrena for leading us thru places we have only dreamed about.

Coming home on Sunday we took the same route because we liked it so much. We only hit a little rain just past Seligman and then again just outside Kingman. The Merryman’s came back to 120 degree weather and Kingman had a double rainbow later that evening. Life is good!
